Oman China Relations

The Omani side was chaired in the meeting by Dr. Omar bin Abdulmunim al Zawawi, H.M. the Sultan's Adviser for External Liaison whilst it was chaired from the Chinese side by Jia Qingling, Permanent Member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference.

Dr. al Zawawi welcomed the Chinese guest. He affirmed the Sultanate's keenness to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries by establishing the association. He expressed his hope for the association to be a bridge linking the two friendly countries to achieve further prosperity for the bilateral relations.

On his turn, the Chinese guest expressed his sincere thanks for efforts exerted by the Omani side to establish the association. He pointed out that China has ancient relations with the Sultanate.

The Chinese guest pointed out that the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in the modern age have achieved a great progress in all fields. He pointed to the Sultanate's pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010 of which visitors stood at 3.6 million.

He said that such economic and trade cooperation is considered as a pillar for relations binding the two friendly countries.

Launching the Omani-Chinese Friendship Association coincides with the Sultanate's celebrations of the 40th Glorious National Day and on the occasion of the visit paid by Jia Qingling, Permanent Member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Part of China and Chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference who is currently visiting the Sultanate with high level delegation.

Among the Omani-Chinese Friendship Association's objectives are strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries in economic, social, cultural and scientific fields by organizing seminars and lectures and exchanging visits between intellectualists, scientists and businessmen.
