King Yi of Zhou (Xie)

King Yí of Zhou (Chinese: 周夷王; pinyin: Zhōu Yí Wáng) was the ninth king of the Chinese zhou dynasty. Estimated dates of his reign are 885–878 BC or 865–858 BC . He was preceded by his uncle, King Xiao of Zhou, who may have overthrown Yi's father. He is said to have boiled Duke Ai of Qi, ruler of the State of Qi, to death. During his reign there were wars in the south with the State of Chu and the Dongyi.
