The New Chengdu Airport, which has not yet been officially named, is a planned airport serving Chengdu, the capital of China's Sichuan province and a major air hub. The site of the airport has been chosen at Lujia, Jianyang, 51 kilometers east of the center of Chengdu. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2014 and complete in 2017. The airport will have five runways, with the capacity to handle 80 million passengers per year.
