Relations between the People's Republic of China and the Slovak Republic maintained steady growth in 2010.


The two sides enjoyed close high-level interactions and sound political relations. From 2 to 7 September, President Ivan Gasparovic attended the National Pavilion Day events of Slovakia and visited Hong Kong and Macao. He met with representative of the Chinese government, Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Yin Weimin, and Mayor of Shanghai Han Zheng. From 22 to 27 February, First Deputy Prime Minister Dusan Caplovic visited China, during which he held talks with Vice Premier Li Keqiang and met with Minister of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission Yang Jing, Vice Minister of Science and Technology Li Xueyong, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Li Yang, and Governor of Hainan Province Luo Baoming. Chairman of the Supreme Court Stefan Harabin visited China. He met with Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and Chairman of the Politics and Law Commission of the CPC Central Committee Zhou Yongkang, President of the Supreme People's Court Wang Shengjun, Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate Cao Jianming, and Minister of Justice Wu Aiying. From 15 to 18 September, Chairman of the CPPCC Economic Committee Zhang Zuoji visited Slovakia, during which he met with Deputy Speaker of the National Council Milan Hort and held talks with Chairman of the Committee on Economy, Construction and Transport of the National Council Stanislav Janis.


From 24 to 27 October, ministerial-level commissioner of the Ministry of Supervision Zhang Huixin visited Slovakia. He met with Deputy Speaker of the National Council Robert Fico and President of the Supreme Audit Office Jan Jasovsky, and held talks with Vice President of the Supreme Audit Office Zora Dobrikova. From 3 to 7 February, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun visited Slovakia for political consultations between the two foreign ministries. He met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Miloslav Lajcak and had talks with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Olga Algayerova.


The two countries sent new ambassadors to each other. On 19 March, Ambassador Frantisek Dlhopolcek presented his credentials to President Hu Jintao. On 18 August, Ambassador Gu Ziping presented his credentials to President Ivan Gasparovic.


Cooperation in economic, trade, science, technology, culture, education and other fields and between localities had been productive. In February, the eighth Session of the Sino-Slovak Joint Committee in Economy was held in Slovakia. In March, the fifth Session of Sino-Slovak Joint Committee on Cooperation in Science and Technology was held in Beijing . In the same month, Political Commissar of the Second Artillery Force General Zhang Haiyang visited Slovakia. In May, Director of the Discipline Inspection Office of the General Administration of Press and Publication Song Mingchang visited Slovakia. In June, Qingdao MESNAC Group set up its European Research and Technical Center in Slovakia. In September, Member of the Leading Party Group of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and Director of the Standardization Administration Ji Zhengkun visited Slovakia.
