The year 2010 marked the fifth anniversary of the resumed diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and Grenada. Friendly relations between the two countries were further strengthened. They had productive business cooperation and maintained mutual support and close coordination in international affairs.
On 20 January, the day marking the fifth anniversary of the resumed diplomatic relations, President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao exchanged messages of congratulations with Governor-General Carlyle Glean and Prime Minister Tillman Thomas. Celebrations were held by both sides.
Political mutual trust was increased. In October, the new Chinese ambassador to Grenada Xu Jianguo presented his Letter of Credence to Governor-General Carlyle Glean. In November, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission Xie Zhenhua led a delegation to Grenada for the Ministerial Meeting of the Alliance of Small Island States. On the sidelines of the meeting, Prime Minister Thomas met with Vice Chairman Xie and his delegation. In April, Nazim Burke, Deputy Leader of the National Democratic Congress and Minister of Finance, led a delegation of ruling party members to China. In July, Prime Minister Thomas attended the CARICOM Day event of the Shanghai World Expo and visited Anhui and Zhejiang .
Business cooperation was scaled up with growing trade volume. The two sides had active cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture and human resources. Low-income housing projects undertaken by China achieved good progress. Fifty-three government officials and business representatives attended short and mid-term training programs or workshops in China.
Cultural and people-to-people exchanges maintained good momentum. In April, sisterhood was established between the City of Foshan, Guangdong Province and St. George's, the Capital of Grenada. Five students from Grenada came to China for study.
