The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It borders Chad in the north, Sudan in the northeast, South Sudan in the east, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Republic of the Congo in the south, and Cameroon in the west. The CAR covers a land area of about 240,000 square miles (620,000 km2), and has an estimated population of about 4.4 million as of 2008. Bangui is the country's capital city. Read More

The friendly relations and cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Central African Republic maintained the sound momentum of rapid growth in 2010.
The two countries maintained close exchanges at all levels and in all fields. In January, Wang Jiarui, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, visited the Central African Republic. In December, Yang Jing, Special Envoy of President Hu Jintao and Chairman of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of China, attended the celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the independence of the Central African Republic. From late September to early October, President Fracois Bozize Yangouvonda of the Central African Republic attended the National Pavilion Day events of the Central African Republic and China at the Shanghai World Expo and met with NPC Chairman Wu Bangguo. The two sides spoke highly of the bilateral ties and expressed readiness to enhance cooperation and promote sustained, sound and steady growth of the bilateral relationship.
In April, President Bozize, Speaker of the National Assembly Celestin Leroy Gaombalet and Prime Minister Faustin Archange Touadera sent messages of condolences for the earthquake in Yushu, Qinghai Province to President Hu Jintao, NPC Chairman Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao respectively. In August, President Bozize, Speaker of the National Assembly Abraham-Pierre M'Bokani and Prime Minister Touadera sent messages of condolences for the mudslide in Zhouqu, Gansu Province to President Hu Jintao, NPC Chairman Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao respectively.
Progress was made in bilateral cooperation in business, trade, infrastructure development, health, radio and TV. In February, notes were signed on the Boali 3 central hydro-electric project and the transmission and transformation facilities to be built with Chinese assistance. In April, Vice Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying led a business delegation to the Central African Republic and co-chaired the first session of the Joint Economic and Trade Commission with Sylvain Maliko, Minister of Economy, Planning and International Cooperation.
