In early February, Mothetjoa Metsing, Secretary General of Lesotho Congress for Democracy, the ruling party of Lesotho, headed a delegation to China.
Economic cooperation and trade between the two countries enjoyed steady growth and the bilateral cooperation projects made smooth progress. The two sides discussed plans for implementing in Lesotho the projects identified in the eight new measures for assisting Africa put forward at the fourth FOCAC Ministerial Conference. The first phase of Lesotho's communication network upgrading project supported by China's concessional loans was completed successfully.
Fruitful outcomes were achieved in the two countries' cooperation in other areas. The art troupe from China's Hunan Province staged successful performances in Lesotho in mid-February. In late September, an art troupe from Lesotho visited China, attended the activities of African Cultures in Focus and gave successful performances on the Lesotho National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo.
