Equatorial Guinea, officially the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, (Spanish: República de Guinea Ecuatorial, is a country located in Middle Africa. With an area of 28,000 square kilometres (11,000 sq mi) Equatorial Guinea is one of the smallest countries in continental Africa. It has two parts, an insular and a mainland region. The insular region, consists of the islands of Bioko (formerly Fernando Pó), in the Gulf of Guinea, and Annobón, a small volcanic island south of the equator. Equatorial Guinea China Relations
The year 2010 marked the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. The friendship and cooperation between the two countries continued to enjoy in-depth development.
The two sides had close high level contacts and their political mutual trust strengthened. On 15 October, President Hu Jintao and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi respectively exchanged messages of congratulation with President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Pastor Micha Ondo Bile on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. On 8 August, President Hu Jintao met in Beijing President Obiang, who was in China for the Equatorial Guinea National Pavilion Day of the Shanghai World Expo. On 22-23 July, State Councillor Dai Bingguo paid an official visit to Equatorial Guinea. During the visit, State Councillor Dai met with Prime Minister Ignacio Milam Tang and held talks with Second Prime Minister Demetrio Elo Ndong Nsefumu.
On 14 August, President Obiang sent a message of condolence to President Hu Jintao on the devastation caused by landslide in Gansu , China. In June, foreign Minister Micha came to China to inspect the preparation of the Equatorial Guinea pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo. Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with him.
On 3 December, the new Chinese Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea Wang Shixiong presented his credentials to President Obiang.
Economic cooperation and trade between the two countries progressed smoothly. Outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) were actively implemented in Equatorial Guinea. Under the framework of the new measures announced at the fourth FOCAC Ministerial Conference, the two countries signed documents whereby the Chinese government offers zero-tariff treatment to products of Equatorial Guinea and cancels Equatorial Guinea's mature debts. The framework agreement on special arrangements for economic cooperation and trade between the two countries was implemented smoothly. In March, President of the Export-Import Bank of China Li Ruogu visited Equatorial Guinea and signed with Minister of Finance and Budget Melchor Esono Edjo the cooperation agreement on China providing loans for Equatorial Guinea.
Exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in culture, education, human resources development and military affairs continued to grow. To mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Henan martial arts performance troupe from China visited and performed in Equatorial Guinea. China continued to provide scholarships for Equatorial Guinea and offered training course on diplomatic protocol and other subjects. In August, a delegation of the Equatorial Guinea Defense Ministry visited China.
